The couple, a man and a woman, ate at the Jade Palace Restaurant in Hamilton, Lanarkshire at around 3.45pm on April 18. Rather than settling their tab, the pair are alleged to have sped off without paying the bill. The restaurant caught the pair on CCTV and have shared images of the duo in the hopes that they can be identified. Contacted by the MailOnline, one of the restaurant owners said they did not wish to reveal the value of the meal as 'it's more about the principle of the matter.' The restaurant shared an emotional appeal on their Facebook age, alongside pictures of the couple, urging them to come forward and pay for their meal. The appeal said: 'We are saddened to say we had a dine and dash. These customers ran out the restaurant without paying their bill. 'We appreciate times are hard however we are a small family business, we still have to pay our bills, staff wages and stock. Please don't come take advantage of us or any other small businesses as this is NOT acceptable at all. 'Lucky for us, some genuine people have come forward and passed on their details. We also have CCTV footage. 'This is not the type of post that we would have liked to share however we have a zero tolerance policy for the safety of our staff and our small business. 'I hope you do the right thing and come forward to pay otherwise we will have to pass on your details to the police and notify all restaurants in the area of your non-paying tactics. 'We kindly ask for you to share this post and If anyone has further information that may help, please reach out privately.' Restaurants are increasingly having to resort to the drastic measure of posting footage of dine and dashers in a bid to shame them. Last month a family-of-four dined and dashed from a Chinese restaurant in West London, sparking outrage among locals. The incident took place on March 23 at popular eatery Pangs Chinese in Uxbridge, where the family enjoyed a meal before leaving without paying their bill. Footage shows two women and two young children leaving the restaurant, as a member of staff tries to stop them from leaving. A separate clip shows the two mothers and their kids getting into a white car in the restaurant's parking area. A waiter is seen approaching the car, but the women manage to speed off as he tries to speak with them. The waiter frantically chases after the vehicle, but quickly gives up. Taking to Facebook to report the incident, Pangs Chinese shared CCTV footage in an attempt to identify the family. 'Dine and dash...this is crazy', the restaurant wrote in the caption. However, there appears to have been a happy ending as, in an unexpected twist, the mother of two of the women in the group came to the restaurant to settle her daughters’ bill, the Metro reported. Pangs Chinese said: ‘Just before closing I had an unexpected visit from the mother of the two ladies from the incident on 23 March 2025. 'She apologised for appalling behaviour of her two daughters running out without paying for their meal and nearly running me over. She settled the bill and left.’
