A taste of home for over 50 years, this Midland restaurant remains true to its roots
Lanny’s Restaurant, 4312 N. Saginaw Road, has been proudly serving homemade dishes for over 50 years.MIDLAND, MI – Serving up hot, homemade breakfast with a smile, you can’t go wrong with a classic. Lanny’s Restaurant, 4312 N. Saginaw Road, has been in business for over 50 years. Owner Ryan Such said Lanny’s Restaurant began in 1973 by a man named, you guessed it, Lanny. Such has successfully run the business for the last nine years and is the fourth owner, he said. Lanny’s Restaurant grew and had its roots in Sanford, but the flood in 2020 ravaged their building. Such said they made the decision to relocate to Midland. “We had 10 feet of water, so everything was gone,” Such said. “Luckily, this place was up for sale and had everything we needed.” However, there was at least one plant that survived the flood at Lanny’s Restaurant, and it dons a “Flood Survivor” sign as it soaks in the sunlight by the window. Regardless of the relocation, the concept and homemade food hasn’t budged, Such said. “We make sauces, gravies, kind of like your own kitchen,” Such said. “I tell people, ‘I wouldn’t serve anything I wouldn’t serve my mother.‘” Breakfast and lunch dishes are the most popular, Such said, and they offer breakfast all day. The delicious dishes keep people coming back, but so does the homey, friendly atmosphere, Such said. Such said he attributes the friendly atmosphere to the staff, some of which have worked at the restaurant for decades. Lanny’s Restaurant is open Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, check out their website here and their Facebook page here.
